Human Medications
Human medications r another source of pet poisoning -- either by intentionally giving pets human medications (trying to medicate a sick or injured pet) or by accidental ingestion by an unsupervised pet. Never give ur pet a human medication unless under the direct recommendation & supervision of ur veterinarian. Common human medications such as Tylenol® can be fatal to a cat.

Childproof caps r often not a problem for a dog! A lot of pill coatings & liquid medications r sweet. Like antifreeze, this can be enticing to pets. Never underestimate what ur pet might find intriguing or interesting to eat. What can start out as a game -- chewing on a noisy pill bottle for the fun of it -- can end up as a poisoning.
Pet Medications & Over-the-counter Treatments
Even pet medications & topical treatments can be toxic when dosed incorrectly or used on the wrong species. For example, many flea treatments for dogs can be dangerous when used on cats. Over-the-counter dewormers r another potential source of toxicity. Different worms may require different dewormers. It is always best to bring a stool sample to ur veterinarian first for proper identification of the worms that u r trying to rid ur pet of.
Any medications need to be discussed with & prescribed by a veterinarian prior to giving them to ur pet to avoid an inadvertent & tragic poisoning.
Wo not help a bit and if you do not have a large breed, 500mg will make him sick. Suck it up and take him to the vet. Bloody poo is not always parasites.
Amoxicillin is an antibiotic & will not cure parasites or worms. There r over the counter worm medicines available at pet stores, but u have to be careful. Some treat only one or two types of worms. If the vet has not done a test to know what kind of worm ur dog has, it is hard to treat it. There r products that treat round worm, hook worms, whip worms & tape worms. Hook worms r more common in younger dogs & can cause a lot of problems more quickly, so get him started on a treatment & treat regularly, not just when they have symptoms. Always weigh ur dog, because if u do not give them the right amount of medicine, it will not work. I do not know of a medicine u can get for gardia that does not come from the vet, but ur local pet store might.
Best of luck. I hope ur little one gets better soon!
Yes, it would hurt him. And it certainly wo not do anything for giardia or whipworm. Come up with the money and get your dog the meds that he needs.
It wo not do anything for either condition. You will need both Metronidazole and Fenbendazole to treat the two conditions. If left untreated, your dog could die.Metronidazole is very inexpensive, and Fenbendazole does not cost that much either.
omoxicillin is not a dewormer - it does nothing for parasites.
Safeguard does.
